    Active summer program

    June 25th, 2009
    canyoning

    Canyoning

Jean Marc Kaufmann and Laurent Taillebois have been mountain guide for many years, in Val d’Isere they work at the well known off piste school, Top ski. Jean Marc and Laurent organise heliskiing but also ski touring in Italy, Switzerland, Marocco, Turkey, Argentina, Chili, Norway and Greenland.

Climbing, Via Ferrata, canyoning or just walking from places to places, the choice is yours. For more precision contact Jean Marc or Laurent and no doubt you will love it.

Although some programs can be challenging you will feel safe and reassured by a very professional team.

If you are a treckking type of person, try the hut to hut, on a short or long program, in France, Italy or Switzerland.

    Le Blizzard

    June 10th, 2009

This hotel is decorated in a very traditional way with wood, colorful fabrics and stones. There are two restaurants, one in the hotel and an other just outside, La Luge, offering a choice of local specialties. The bar/lounge is very pleasant with the large comfortable sofas, deep arm chairs and an open fire. The rooms over looking the mountains are sunnier and quieter than the ones over looking the main street. A spa offering the usual services and a pool (half inside, half outside) are to be found on the ground floor. Shame about the website which is unpractical and unreadable.

    Le Christiana

    June 10th, 2009

People come back year after year, for a good reason. The bedrooms are incredibly comfortable and spacious unlike some other expensive hotels, the family suites are cosy and homey and some have the size of a flat. The food is excellent, there is an amazing buffet in the evening, the spa is spacious offering all sorts of services. The only bad point, if there is one, is the price of the cheapest bottle of wine.

    Hotel Les Lauzes

    June 10th, 2009

Bed and breakfast, situated next to the Church, this is perhaps the prettiest spot in the village. Small, cosy, conveniently located for skiing and yet close to the shops and restaurants. Every thing you need on a small scale, unless you don’t like the sound of the Church bell. Closed in Summer.

    Hotel Les Sorbiers

    June 9th, 2009

When ever you ask people who stayed at The Sorbiers, they always talk about the quality of the staff, how friendly and  helpful they are. The sauna is amazing with a massage chair which is very appreciated after the day skiing. Ask preferably the south facing rooms. The rooms are incredibly comfortable with a choice of pillows (orthopedics or regulars), aromatic products for the jacuzzi, reflexology slippers and… heated seats on the loo!. The only bad point is the 5 min walk to the lift.

    Open in the summer.

    Hotel Kandahar

    June 9th, 2009

Half of the 41 bedrooms are specially designed to accommodate families. Ask for the rooms over looking the mountains. There is a sauna and a steam bath for the after skiing relaxation. The lounge and the bar offer a very pleasant surrounding with an open fire. Underneath, La Taverne d’Alsace restaurant is well known for its excellent food. Overall a very good 3* hotel.

    Hotel La Savoyarde

    June 9th, 2009

The hôtel has been redecorated recently improving greatly the size of the lounge. The rooms are not very spacious, but have a nice view over the mountains. There is a very small spa. The  food at the restaurant is of very high standard, served by a friendly staff .  Closed in Summer.

    Hotel La Becca

    June 9th, 2009

Le Laisinant ‘s hamlet is really not far at all from Val d’Isere, if you are without teenagers you will not find it a problem. Very close to a chairlift if your priority is skiing rather then shopping.  A family run hotel, you will enjoy the fine fare provided by the young and creative chef, Antony Tempesta. Simple, no frills, highly recommended.
Open in summer, but as a Bed/Breakfast only.
