Are you commercial?
Radio Val rely on sponsors and advertisers to survive, a small team runs radio Val, with Mathilde the feminine voice, Benoit, Romuald, Fred and Gareth, the head quarter is located in the same building as the tourist office. Radio Val does not make much money.

What happened to Will?
Will has gone sailing, working on boats, he comes from time to time said Mathilde, we saw him last month he was commenting the Polo matches.

When do you transmit?
From November to May, only during the ski season.

Who is Gareth?
Gareth one of the British voices on radio Val, works at “the village des enfants” when he is not composing and making music

It’s planned to rehearse an other “evacuation” at the highest point of the run!

How does it work?
Shops either pay a membership or a commission to be part of the system, you are given a voucher which gives the right to hire the equipment. SkiSet is not alone, Intersport, Skimium, Sport2000 offer the same service

Yes it can be cheaper..

although one problem we heard is that often the site gives little or unclear information on what each level of equipment means so when skiers decide to upgrade to a more suitable category once at the shop, they spend more than anticipated. Generally you will get more ski for your money if you go directly to the shop. Some shops will give you the same price as the one advertised on the hiring site.

There is no evidence that time is saved.
The client may have booked and paid for the hire many weeks or months in advance but often the shops get no information at all in advance and know nothing about them until they walk through the door and if they are informed they are just told that Mr X has booked the golden, bronze or black package with no more details about heights or sizes so nothing is prepared waiting for you.

Luckily shops here are very efficient in preparing the right equipment. The whole process can be done in less than half an hour. If you take time to inquire about the  ski condition with the guys working in the shop you are more likely to end up with the right gear for that particular week.

Conclusion
We came to the conclusion that skiers are better off looking at the shops’s websites to have an idea of the prices and maybe reserve directly with the chosen shop. At Intersport Mattis (a very large rental shop) the rental is cheaper through the shop’s rental website than on the Intersport website for the same package! and cheaper then if you just walk through the door!
Now, if you stick to the package chosen you will save money if not time.
