After an incredible ski season, the chairlifts are stopping the 1st May until next November...When the snow melts the village remains, it's very quiet and slightly dead in May and early June but come back in July to experience a summer in the Alps. You will be happily surprised, there are many activities for the young and the not so young. So see you in July?

golfing, dancing, fishing, cycling, hiking, climbing, canyoning, mountain biking…..

But the great luxury is that you are away from the crowd normally found on coasts and sea sides.

Every year the association obtains reductions on the following activities or shops:

The 3 supermarkets, the cinema, the yoga, ski lessons, bars and restaurants in altitude, pizzas,

sport shops, osteopathe, hairdresser…. offer 10, 20, 30 or 50% the list is really long!

The card only cost 20€, it’s really worth it.

At the association the internet is free and you can meet some other seasonnaires.

La Ferme de l’Adroit is full of ideas to eat or to offer.

The traveling (tiny) raclette machine, the lovely box of local jams…

If you plan to take the cheese with you, ask for the special wrapping “sous vide” to avoid any unpleasant smells.

Pov Mimi is on the main street.

The shop stocks a selection of honey, cheeses, jams, cooked meat and other local prducts.

Ask for the special “sous vide” wrapping for safe traveling.

If you want to discover the other side of a Michelin star restaurant, it is possible.
After 5pm the chef gives lessons! Could be a good present for a loved one (145€/session)

April 14th to 21st Reunion

In the 80s and 90s the British seasonnaire community here in Val d’Isere was a lot smaller than it is these days – just a few hundred people – and everyone stuck close together. A lot fun was had and friends for life were made. Then gradually as things changed and everyone got older, people started to move away, into the “real world”. Sadly, over the years many of our friends from the great old days have passed away as well.

These days only a handful of the folks from back then are still in Val d’Isere, some of them still doing the same job as years ago, some with new businesses and some retired and spending more time on the mountain than they ever did. There are also dozens of “Brit” kids growing up alongside the local Avalins, speaking French better than any of their parents ever did and some shaping up to be real contenders on the ski race circuit in a few years’ time.

Big Ade and Big Pink are still around as well and a year ago decided to organize a reunion in Val d’Isere for as many people from way back then who can make it. The Val d’Isere 80s/90s Retour, Reunion and Remembrance will take place for a week from 14^th April, with a packed programme of events to reunite old friends and remember those who are no longer with us. Gjays will live again for one night only, Dick will be mine host in the Tea Bar, the original WOFTAMS will be held in the Pacific, there will be karaoke, a race day where they used to run The Hop, barbies in the sun and no doubt a lot of reminiscing and catching up.
