La Becca (Le laisinant Hamlet)
13-Dec-09 , 0 commentsTel:+33( 0)4 79 06 09 48 www.labecca-val.com Not really in Val d'Isere village but in the Hamlet of the Laisinant at the bottom of the L run. La Becca is a 15 walk or a quick bus ride away from Val d'Isere. It is well worth the effort to discover a very fine cuisine. Lunch offers a choice of 2 dishes for 29.50€ or 3 dishes for 35.90€. Dishes are classic with a twist of originality, the friendly staff the service attends without "chichi". The evening menu is more sophisticated. La becca has been awarded recently a star on the Michelin guide.

La Taverne D’Alsace (Main street)
13-Dec-09 , 0 commentsTel: +33(0)4 79 06 48 49 www.hotel-kandahar.com Under the Hotel Kandahar, (by the way a good hotel), on the main street. La Taverne d'Alsace offers a wide choice of food and wine at sensible prices for Val d'Isere. Sauerkraut and other Alsatian dishes are their specialty but there is a lot more to choose from. The décor is warm and cosy, with little cubicles, the place is a very safe choice. You might, however, find the dining room a little noisy when the place is full. Open from 5.30pm to 1 am, bookings possible after 4pm. Highly recommended.

La Vieille Maison (La Daille Hamlet)
13-Dec-09 , 0 comments04 79 06 11 76 www.resto-lavieillemaison.fr Not in Val d'Isere's centre but situated in the old part of the Hamlet of La Daille, 5 minutes away by bus. It is one of the village's oldest buildings with low ceilings, an open fire, heavy wooden beams and even an inside well, as farms used to have in the good olden days. You will find specialities from Savoy (Raclettes, Tartiflettes and Fondues) but also more sophisticated dishes. Well worth a visit.

Restaurant le 1789 ( Opposite the bus station)
13-Dec-09 , 0 comments04 79 06 17 89 www.restaurant-1789-valdisere.com Just off the main street (passage de l'Iseran) opposite the bus station, you will find 1789 in a little alley way. Minet and his wife used to run for years the much loved night club Club 21. The food here is mainly cooked on the open fire, if you like grilled meat, the "cote de boeuf" is a must, it will be perfectly done by Minet himself. The small sized room gives a warm and friendly atmosphere, most people are regulars and are friends with the owner. The wine list is very reasonably priced. A very good address indeed.
